From there, the item, complete with a claim of insider record-label info and a bogus document listing Bowie's involvement, was picked up by the mainstream press, but later denounced by the fan site as a fake.
Apparently vexed the "tall story" hasn't been cut down to size fast enough, Bowie's camp is trying to make one thing clear. Per the legend's site: "[I]n a nutshell, the suggestion that David Bowie is producing and participating in the production of Lady Gaga's next album is untrue and a hoax."
