Lady Gaga Cancels Several Shows

Compiled by DAVE ITZKOFF

Fans of Lady Gaga were sufficiently baffled by the lyrics to her song “Bad Romance”; now they’re trying to understand how she was able to make a Friday appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” while canceling or postponing several concert dates. On Thursday evening Lady Gaga canceled a show she was to perform at Purdue Universityin West Lafayette, Ind., writing on her Twitter account that she “was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing” before the show and that she was later given a diagnosis of exhaustion and dehydration by paramedics. On Friday she taped an appearance on Ms. Winfrey’s show, where she discussed her upbringing, her personal life and her fans (and told the host, “There’s Gandhi, and there’s Oprah”) and also performed her song “Monster.” But that was the only performance that Lady Gaga would give for the weekend. The Star-Ledger of Newark reported that she canceled a show scheduled for Saturday at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. The concert promoter Live Nation said on livenation.com that a Lady Gaga show scheduled for Sunday in Wallingford, Conn., was canceled, and the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Conn., said one planned for Monday was postponed. Lady Gaga is scheduled to begin a four-night stand at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Wednesday.
